Monofusion

Elleebana founder Otto Mitter's technique for tinting inside Step 2. The tint goes into the setting stage, so lashes are set and colored in one controlled step instead of two.

What Monofusion Is

Monofusion is Elleebana's name for its refined take on one-step lamination. Instead of tinting as a separate stage after the lift is set, oxidative tint is mixed into the Step 2 setting lotion, so neutralizing the lift and developing the color happen together.

It is a technique, not a product. There is no Monofusion kit to buy: it is performed with the lift or lamination system, tint and tools an artist already works with.

Combining tint with setting is not new, and Elleebana has taught versions of it since 2016 as an express tinting option. What changed is the research behind it. Otto Mitter, Elleebana's founder and a cosmetic chemist, studied how the combined stage really behaves, first on natural hair swatches and then on client lashes, testing mixing ratios, application methods, brush viscosity, coverage and exposure time. The goal was deeper, more even, longer lasting color without giving up an effective set or the health of the natural lash.

How Monofusion Works

Lift

Step 1

The lift or lamination lotion reshapes the lashes as usual, checked against the lash rather than the clock.

Clean prep

Before Step 2

Step 1 comes off thoroughly. Leftover lotion can dilute the tint mixture and leave color uneven, soft or short lived. With Brik & Pearl, Lash Life Volume Filler can be worked through here as a Step 1.5, then removed.

Set and tint

Step 2

Tint is mixed into the setting lotion on an Elleepalette. For Korean-inspired placement, Elleemix Powder thickens the mixture so it stays exactly where it is put.

Develop

Base to tip

The mixture covers every lash from base to tip and is given enough controlled contact time for the color to develop, based on the lash assessment.

Monofusion must be performed to Elleebana's approved protocols and each product's own directions, including patch testing. Technique, mixing and timing are taught hands-on, not on a product page. See our online and in-person courses.

Monofusion FAQ

Is Monofusion a product?

No. Monofusion is a technique. It uses the lift or lamination system, tint and tools you already stock, which is why this page gathers them in one place.

What is the difference between Monofusion and tinting after a lift?

Tinting after a lift is a separate third stage on freshly rinsed lashes. Monofusion folds the tint into Step 2, so the lashes are set and colored in the same stage, which saves service time.

Which lift systems can be used for Monofusion?

Elleeplex Profusion and Brik & Pearl suit it best. Both give the tint a longer contact time in Step 2 than a fast-acting system, and that time is what lets the color develop deep and even.

Why does removing Step 1 matter so much?

Any lotion left on the lashes can dilute the tint mixture and disrupt how the color develops. Thorough removal is one of the main reasons Monofusion results look rich and even rather than soft or patchy.

Can Lash Life Volume Filler be mixed into the tint?

No. Lash Life Volume Filler is always applied on its own, never mixed into the tint and setting lotion. It can be used before Step 2 as a Step 1.5 and again as a leave-on finish.

Do I need training before offering Monofusion?

Yes. Mixing, placement and development time all depend on assessing the lash in front of you. Train on the technique before adding it to your menu.
