What Makes It Different
A Korean lash lift softens the lashes against an Ultra Flex Flat Shield, which holds them almost straight, and only moves them onto a rod or hybrid shield for the setting stage. Hybrid keeps the Korean order and the thickened lotion, and stays on one curved form throughout: no flat-shield reset, and no switching forms part way. That is what makes it quicker than a Korean lift.
The form is what changes the result. A flat shield gives the flat, extended look that reads as maximum length. A Flex Hybrid Shield sits on a round rod base while still carrying a straight upward lift, and a Flex Rod returns a defined C-curl. Hybrid therefore lands between a Korean lift and a classic rod lift.
Because the lashes are relaxed upward under thickened lotion, the same care applies as for a Korean lift: check flexibility rather than the clock, and keep the lotion off the lid.
Hybrid is a variation of the Korean method, an industry technique Elleebana teaches with its own products, and Elleebana uses the name Hybrid for it too. It is how Reid Ryan, Polymorph Beauty's master educator, works that method.

How the Hybrid Lash Lift Works
Set the form
Step 1
A Flex Hybrid Shield or Flex Rod is placed on the lid, in the size the lashes call for. No adhesive is needed on the back.
Sweep up and soften
Relax upward
Lifting lotion thickened with Elleemix Powder, around 40% with Profusion, goes on, and the lashes are swept upward onto the curved base. Cling film over the top adds heat, so they soften faster while stretched.
Check flexibility
Midway
Flexibility is checked as the lashes process, rather than working to the clock. Thickened lotion absorbs more slowly, so processing often runs longer.
Thicken and set
Step 2
Setting lotion thickened with Elleemix Powder holds the lashes where they sit on the same form while it sets the new shape. Nothing is re-wrapped, which is where the time is saved.
Elleeplex Profusion is the recommended system, and Brik & Pearl also works for this method, thickened with Elleemix Powder in the same way, though it needs slightly less. Follow each product's current directions, contraindications and patch-testing requirements.
Hybrid Lash Lift FAQ
How is a Hybrid lash lift different from a Korean lash lift?
Both relax the lashes upward with thickened lotion. A Korean lift softens them against an Ultra Flex Flat Shield, which holds them almost straight for maximum length, then moves them onto a rod or hybrid shield for the setting stage. Hybrid never switches form: the lashes soften and set on the one rod or hybrid shield, from Step 1 to the end. That removes the reset and the re-wrap, which makes it quicker with fewer steps, and it finishes with a rounder curl. Because there is less mechanical tension than a flat shield applies, the base can read a little softer on some lash types.
Which form should I use?
A Flex Hybrid Shield, whose round rod base carries a straight upward lift, or a Flex Rod for a defined C-curl. Neither needs adhesive on the back. Size with the Elleebana Tree Tool as usual.
Who is it for?
Lashes that suit a Korean lift, including coarse, dense or downward-growing lashes, where the client wants a rounder curl rather than the flat, extended look a flat shield gives. It also helps when a flat shield sits awkwardly on a very curved lid.
Can I use Elleebana One Shot for this?
It is not the preferred option, for the same reason as the Korean method: thickened lotion and a longer, covered process can push fast thioglycolate chemistry into over-processing. Elleeplex Profusion is recommended, and Brik & Pearl works too.
Is Hybrid an Elleebana course?
There is no separate Hybrid course. Elleebana's Korean Lash Lift Techniques course covers the Korean, Freestyle and adhesive-free methods, and Hybrid is learned there as a variation of the Korean method. Ask us about working it on a rod.
