"Can I tint in the same appointment?" is one of the first questions artists ask me once they add lifts or laminations to their menu. The client wants the full result in one visit, and you want to give it to her without dropping the lift you just built. No pressure.
The short answer is yes, with Elleebana and Elleeplex Profusion lifts and laminations and a compatible tint, tint can follow in the same appointment. The artists who run into trouble aren't the ones who tint after a lift. They are the ones who tint the way they would tint untreated hair.
Lift or laminate first, then tint
The order is the same whether you are working on lashes, brows or both: lift or laminate first, then tint as its own separate stage at the end.
Tint is not part of the lift and it doesn't replace any step in it. Finish the lift or lamination completely, remove and rinse properly, and only then move to color. Rinsing matters more than people think. If adhesive is left on the lashes, it can prop them up and make the lift look stronger than it is. When the tint washes that away, the lift appears to "drop," when really you are just seeing the true result.
If you are doing a lash lift and a brow lamination in the same visit, which you can, the tint still comes last. Elleebana teaches newer artists not to tint while the lashes are still on the rods, because tint can run toward the waterline, so tint after the rods come off.
Why freshly lifted hair takes tint more intensely
This is the part that surprises people. Color often develops faster, looks deeper and grabs more intensely on hair that has just been lifted or laminated than it does in a standalone tint.
The reason is structural. The lifting or lamination lotion works on the bonds inside the hair, the cuticle opens and the hair becomes more porous, so it is more receptive to pigment. On top of that, lifted and laminated hair can look lighter or more matte because its surface and alignment have shifted, which makes the applied tint appear stronger again. Lighter hair shows the change faster than dark hair.
What that means in practice:
- Watch the hair, not just the clock. Check the color as it develops.
- Take a "before" photo. It keeps you honest about how much depth you are adding.
- Respect how hard over-tinting is to undo. It is much easier to add color at the next visit than to take it away. Nobody wants brows that walk into the room before she does.

Choose a tint that matches the service
Compatibility is the whole game. A tint and developer that aren't matched to each other, or to the system you lifted with, can drop the result you just created.
Belmacil for lashes and brows. Belmacil is a Swiss-formulated professional tint. It is its own company, owned by Elleebana, and its guidance says it is compatible with Elleebana and Elleeplex Profusion lifts and laminations. The US range is six shades: 1 Black, 2 Blue Black, 3 Dark Brown, 3.1 Light Brown, 3.3 Honey Brown and 5 Graphite.
Infinity Aqua Drops for brows only. Aqua Drops is a brow-only liquid tint from Infinity, a separate company from Elleebana. It works as a standalone brow tint or after an Elleeplex Profusion or Brik & Pearl brow lamination, and it comes in seven intermixable shades. It is henna-free, which is a product feature, not a safety claim. Never use Aqua Drops on lashes.
One Shot is a lash lift system only, so it never goes on brows, and there is no Aqua Drops step after a One Shot lift.
You may also see Profusion tints in manuals or overseas posts. They are not sold in the US. Use Belmacil or Aqua Drops and follow that tint's own directions.
Keep each tint with its own developer
My rule in my salon never bends: Belmacil with Belmacil Crème Oxydant, its 3% cream developer. Aqua Drops with an Infinity oxidizer, either the Infinity Hybrid Tint Oxidizer or the Infinity Liquid Tint Spray Oxidizer. No swapping developers across brands, ever. This is the hill I will happily stand on, gloves on. Developer strengths vary from brand to brand, and a lift or lamination is designed around specific conditions. Mixing systems also takes you outside the manufacturer's guidelines, which is a question for your insurance as well as your results.
When to book the tint separately
Same-visit tinting is the norm in my salon, but not for every client. I book it as its own appointment when:
- She has reacted to a tint before, or tells you she is sensitive. Don't try to work around it with a different shade or brand. Patch test first and talk it through with your trainer.
- She was lifted with another brand. Belmacil's guidance is to wait before tinting after a non-Elleebana lift. Ask Ellee how long.
- The hair looks stressed. If the lift or lamination left the hair looking dry or fragile, recovery comes first. Talk to your trainer.
- She is undecided on color. A separate visit gives her time to see the lift on its own first.
Separate tint visits are also good business. Tint usually fades before a lift or lamination grows out, so many clients come back for a tint top-up between full services anyway.
And whatever you book, patch test before every tint service.
Common questions
Can I tint lashes right after a One Shot or Profusion lift? Yes. Belmacil's guidance says it is compatible with Elleebana and Elleeplex Profusion lifts and laminations and can follow in the same appointment. Lift first, rinse well, then tint.
Why did the tint come out darker than usual? Freshly lifted or laminated hair is more porous and takes color faster and deeper. Watch the hair as it develops rather than relying on your usual timing, and ask Ellee for product-specific guidance.
Can I use Infinity Aqua Drops after a lash lift? No. Aqua Drops is brow-only. Use it after a Profusion or Brik & Pearl brow lamination, and use Belmacil on lashes.
Can my client wear mascara after a lift and tint? Regular mascara waits 24 to 48 hours after any lift. Elleevate Lash Lift Mascara can go on straight away.
